Why “All” Matters: How WithAll Is Redefining Who Holds the Power to Protect Kids’ Health
If you’re in the ModernWell community, you’re probably someone who builds, creates, and leads with purpose. In other words: you’re already doing work that matters. You’re shaping conversations, making decisions, influencing teams, and setting the tone in rooms—whether that’s at work, at home, or in your community.
What if the everyday choices you make—the way you lead, speak, design, write, or market—could quietly shape a safer world for the kids growing up around you?
Because they do.
At WithAll, our name is our commitment: real change takes all of us who see the unnecessary pain, struggle, and harm diet culture has and continues to cause. We exist to put just enough of a crack in diet culture and harmful body ideals to see the light on the other side: a world where young people grow up feeling good (or neutral) in their bodies and with food.
But we know this vision can’t be carried out only by expert scholars, top treatment professionals, a single organization, or even an entire healthcare system. It takes everyone—parents, coaches, healthcare providers, educators, neighbors, as well as businesses and partner organizations that see the value of that future with light and ease of being, no more weighted down by the “should” of body ideas and food behaviors. That’s why “all” isn’t just part of our name—it’s the foundation of our mission.
The Problem Is Cultural—So the Solution Must Be Collective
Diet culture and body ideals are deeply embedded in our society. We have all absorbed them, in fact. With best intention, we pass them on to young people. And young people absorb these messages about food, weight, and worth from us and everywhere else: social media, school, home, sports fields, even routine doctor visits. These messages often begin early and build quietly, creating conditions for body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and lifelong health consequences.
No single professional or policy can fully counter this. But when adults across all areas of a child’s life send consistent, affirming messages—when they know what to say and what not to say—we can begin to dismantle the toxic norms that harm kids.
Why This Matters to You
If you’re building a brand, a platform, a team, or a family—you’re already influencing the environment kids are growing up in. The question is: What kind of environment is it?
Historically, the responsibility for eating disorders has rested with mental health professionals and clinicians. And only after a clinical eating disorder has taken hold. But that model alone is not enough—and it starts too late and addressing the problems becomes more difficult and costly.
At WithAll, we believe in prevention, and prevention means stepping in sooner and widening the circle of those who are equipped to help…before the problem begins in the first place.
That’s why our initiatives, like What to Say, are designed to give every adult—not just specialists—clear, accessible tools to support kids. Whether you’re a coach giving feedback after practice, a parent at the dinner table, or a teacher making comments about health in class, you have influence. And with the right words, you can be a powerful part of a child’s healthy development.
All Voices. All Roles. All In.
When we say “all,” we mean inclusion and more. We mean shared responsibility. We mean that lasting change doesn’t happen unless everyone sees themselves as part of the solution. That’s why our approach is collaborative. We partner with experts and everyday adults. We listen to families, elevate youth voices, and invite community involvement.
We focus on practical, science-backed strategies that are easy to use in real life—because prevention doesn’t have to be complex. It has to be consistent, caring, and widespread.
The Future We’re Building—With All of Us
Imagine a world where girls aren’t told to shrink themselves to be beautiful. Where boys don’t measure their strength by muscle. Where kids grow up confident in their bodies—and not preoccupied by them.
That future is possible. But only if we build it with all of us.
So ask yourself:
What messages are you sending?
What do you want to be true for the kids growing up around you? How will you use your voice?
Because changing the status quo can only happen WithAll of us.
If you’re feeling the pull to be part of the “all” at WithAll, our 3 Simple Shifts video and guide is a great place to begin. It’s designed to help you make small, powerful changes in how you talk about food and bodies—wherever you lead, live, or show up.
And if this message really resonated with you, I’d love to hear what sparked something. Send me a note at lradzak@withall.org—I’d truly love to connect.
